I had known for some time that Daz from Back in Black had decided to put together an AC/DC tribute band but it came as a surprise even to me that he had snuck in a date so soon. Daz lives and breathes BJ so it was pre-ordained that he would front another tribute of the Ausie metallers

With Daz on lead, Neil on drums, Graham as little Angus, Dean on rhythm and Chris on bass,

It was the Pemberton that was host to their debut gig and the lads took the place of another band that had cancelled and I persuaded Nige that it would be a nice night out - not that I find that particularly difficult, and with the promise of me driving him there and him being able to drink then it was in the bag.

And when I realised that Nige had had an email from Daz with a personal invite then even Nige was cornered!

We got lost cos Nige was navigating and had already sunk about four JDs and as he and alcohol are never the best of bedmates then not only was he talking rubbish he was seeing roads where there weren't any.

But that aside we did, eventually, get to the gig and luckily the lads had not taken to the stage and as I entered I bumped into the man himself. Daz was rather on a high cos of the amount of people already in the pub. We had a brief natter and I showed Nige the best place to take the pics, turned on his camera and pointed it in the right direction.............

He was sorted, now let's see what the band are like The one thing that struck me - apart from Angus being really little - was the more laid back approach that Daz had obviously initiated into the band. Gone was the regimented approach that had dogged his previous band and in was the 'devil may care' attitude that really did make a big difference.

The songs came thick and fast and even Daz had to admit that he couldn't squeeze them all in. Daz's vocals on occasion seemed lost in the mix but generally were fine; Neil is a frend of Nige and me from way back in the Late Nineties when he was in Scream Dream and they played at Redcar's Battle of the Bands; Dean on Rhythm is a fireman (now don't get me started); Chris on bass is from Eighties NWOBHM band Tygers of Pan Tang and little Graham as Angus is....well.....little, but plays a mean lead.

Big Al from On the Level was in charge of the sound and mixed well; in typical AC/DC style Chris and Dean took back seat and let Daz and Graham snatch the limelight. Graham as Angus used the stage to his benefit and rocked respectably, standing out on and the brilliant Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be. Daz got to play one of his fave songs - Have A Drink On Me.  Not the most popular on the album but nice to hear it done live. Many many classic AC/DC songs weregiven an airing - as if you needed to be told. But don't just wait for me to list them, get along and see for yourself.

No probs with any of the songs, Daz sang well and even my drunken friend sang the title on Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Nige got some decent pics (God knows how!) and I had a chat with Davy and Kimberly of Davy's Rock Page fame. Nige was nearly as drunk as Davy by the end of the night and it was really interested listening to them having a conversation........................you know exactly what I mean.

The Pemberton is a nice relaxing pub, Daz is always sweet to talk to, the band played well and it was funny seeing Nige drunk. A good night.
