The Three Tuns
Saturday 27th May 2006
We decided to venture to what we describe as one of the best live music entertainment venues in the North East The Three Tuns to see Sabbatica, a band who have been pulling the crowds in across the region.

Classed as a Sabbath tribute band we always wonder how long tribute bands will last in the business, but to be honest you get exactly what you would expect from this band. Good Sabbath music. The band consist of 4 members who no doubt are names people would roll off they tongues having seen these guys with other well known local bands such as FIST Tubesnake and White Noise

Martin Harrison (drums) known as Hairy (don’t know why), but he gave a solid thumping performance hammering out impressive no nonsense beats without breaking into a sweat.

Brian Rickman (Bass) joined in the movement as all good bassists know Sabbath tracks require a great deal of hard intricate work he played with such majestic ease so calm cool and collective combined to create a brilliant rhythm section.

Martin Metcalf (guitar) a quietly spoken guy off stage he explodes with musical talent on stage, which shows without doubt in the fret work, so alike Tony Lommi that he thoroughly enjoys what he’s doing in front of a live crowd and it was thoroughly appreciated.

Last but not least Dave Lunn (Vocals) a whore in musical talent over the years with many bands including Tubesnake and White Noise but what can I say about his vocal talent as front man, his metal edge sharpness with huge vocal cords, a man who commands the showmanship around the stage with majestic comfort and ease, a talent very few front men have nowadays.

The set consists of Hole in the sky (Sabotage album) Killing Yourself To Live (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath) Megalomania (Sabotage) Snowblind (Volume 4) Sweet leaf (Master Of Reality) Supernaut (Volume 4) NIB (Black Sabbath album) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath)
second set Symptom Of The Universe (Sabotage) After Forever (Master of Reality) Fairies Wear Boots (Paranoid) Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath) Never Say Die (Never Say Die) Iron Man (Paranoid). War Pigs (Paranoid) Dirty Women (Technical Ecstasy) Paranoid (Paranoid) ending with encores Embryo/Children Of The Grave (Master of Reality) Neon Knights (Heaven and Hell)...

For all Sabbath fans we can say without doubt this band rates as one of the better Sabbath cover band we’ve seen in this region The band is tight and the vocals are superb They're just there to play the music, and have a good time entertaining Sabbath and non Sabbath fans alike. Don’t take our word for it go see them yourselves, you won’t be disappointed
